Huelgoat Triathlon
Haven't been on here for quite a while, and I know this is a little after the event.
I was in Huelgoat for a couple of weeks at the end of September, so there for the Roc'h des Monts d'Arrée (which I didn't see much of, other than the huge number of motorhomes around the town) and also the triathlon on Friday 26th September.
What a fantastic event that was. My father and stepmother live on the estate behind the Camping du Lac, so we were able to walk down to the play area by the edge of the lake and watch it from there, which was ideal as it was the launching place for the kayaks onto the lake, as well as seeing the runners and cyclists come through the estate and off round the lake.
My question is: was this event advertised anywhere? I didn't see anything around town, and couldn't find anything on the internet about it. The only reason we knew it was on was because the mairie's office came around a couple of days beforehand with a letter regarding parking on Rue Robespierre on the day. We had no ideas about times etc.
Is it an annual event, at the same time every year?

Re: Huelgoat Triathlon
The only indication I had was that no parking signs were put out on Rue General de Gaulle. (They did not say why parking was banned)
It is a local bone of contention that so many events are not made evident. (Do not start Admin off on this topic!)
Why is there not a HUGE notice in the window of the tourism office with all events for the month?
A couple of years ago a cancelled firework event went ahead 2 or 3 weeks later with no one to watch it!
Every year a couple of classic car rallies arrive in the town and there is not even parking made available for them.
This triathlon was a sponsored commercial event - why no advertising locally?

Re: Huelgoat Triathlon
I went to the town hall to ask why no publicity. They are the ones who give permission for this type of event after all. The mayor wasn't in and the secretary didn't seem to give a damn about what I had to say.
